Abarth To Introduce New Punto EVO with 165hp 1.4 Turbo Engine!

More previews before next week’s Geneva Motor Show and this time it’s Abarth previewing the latest Punto EVO and the tuner has announced the three-door 1.4-liter turbocharged Multiair four-cylinder supermini will debut alongside a souped up Abarth 500X.
To help with the need for more power, Fiat’s performance division sourced a larger turbocharger from Garrett in order to lift output to 165hp and 250Nm of torque at 2,250rpm. The Abarth Punto EVO will be able to see off the 100km/h mark in just 7.9-seconds and to keep everything manageable, Abarth has beefed up suspension that consists of McPherson struts up front and a torsion-bar equipped “semi-independent” rear suspension out back. This combined with a new, bigger anti-roll bar and springs that have been stiffened by 20%, the Abarth Punto EVO should be able to impress with it’s handling and it could just be one of the car’s finer points.
Predictably, aerodynamics have also improved but this time it’s more than just a couple of beauty enhancements. The Abarth Punto EVO features a wider front bumper, realigned air inlets/outlets, redesigned rear bumper that features a carryover diffuser with new details and reorganized reverse/fog lights, colour-matched side-skirts, and a new rear spoiler. Finishing the look are different satin finish on the exhaust tips, new 17-inch wheels, and a fresh set of graphics.

Inside, drivers have access to optional Sabelt racing buckets and a new vehicle dynamics system that allows them to control braking/steering/engine characteristics with a 2-mode lever (Sport and Normal) housed on the center tunnel. The selected driving mode appears on the dashboard, while a shift light (Gear Shift Indicator, or GSI) resides in the Jaeger-filled instrument panel.
Other features to be found on Abarth’s latest hot-hatch include Start&Stop technology and Torque Transfer Control (TTC), which provides a locking differential that is automatically activated in sport mode.
And just to push the limits even further, Abarth will be offering a SS kit that features lowering springs, 18-inch wheels in white or titanium. Power will also be cranked up to 180hp and brakes will also be beefed up with new pads and vented discs. More details on this next week.

OMG - Bugatti Owner Swaps Veyron For Corvette ZR1

I’ll never understand rich folks, but I guess when you have all the money in the world, you can do whatever you like and it doesn’t matter if it makes sense or not. Some mega-rich like traveling around the world in a hot air balloon, while others buy tickets to the moon, but here’s one rich dude who has just traded in his US$1.6million “fastest-car-in-the-world” Veyron for a much lesser machine – the US$100,000 Corvette ZR1. A move that has baffled car fans around the world.

Now if you’re not a car nut, then the swap would make sense to you, sell of fthe more expensive machine for something cheaper and just as fast. But the problem is, the Vette is not just as fast as a Veyron, nothing on four-wheels is just as fast as a Veyron. The ZR1 may be the fiercest of all the Vette’s and is more than capable of tearing apart a number of today’s supercars apart when it comes to power and speed but to pick one over a Bugatti seems a little, far-fetched. Why not just keep the Bugatti and buy a Vette? I’m sure the owner is more than capable of that.
Just for comparison, the Vette ZR1 does the century sprint in 3.3 seconds and tops off at 330km/h, the Veyron in the other hand demolishes the 100km/h mark in a stunning 2.4 seconds and doesn’t stop till it reaches it’s 407km/h top speed. But maintaining a Veyron costs equally as much as maintaining a private jet so the swap does kind of make sense. More over, the owner has already owned other greats like a Diablo and a Mclaren F1 so I guess it makes sense to sample something more savage than the usual lot. Swap a Veyron for a ZR1, the idea is still hard to comprehend.

Carlsson C25 'Hyper-Car' Arriving Soon!

The name Carlsson is synonymous with high performance and high quality aftermarket parts for Mercedes Benz. It is a German tuning house with long history in motorsport since the 80’s. Over this period of time Carlsson have developed various models based on factory Mercedes Benz models pushing its limits performance wise and also aesthetically as well. In the upcoming Geneva Motor Show Carlsson will release the very limited C25 which is only produced in 25 units worldwide.
Based on the Mercedes Benz SL600, the C25 is equipped with 6 liter, twin turbo V12 engine at its heart giving a top speed of 352 km/h (218.7 mph). The aim of this hypercar is a vehicle that is safe to be driven on the road or track and performs well as a daily driver and serious contender at other times. All of the safety systems have been retained on the car and improved suspension is provided for optimum performance on corners and straights. A combination of leather and carbon fiber will be used inside mixing luxury sports aesthetics.
The 6.0 liter twin-turbocharged V12 under the hood of the C25 makes 753 horsepower and an insane 1,150Nm of torque, which will take it from 0 to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds. And 1,150Nm is just the limited figure (likely to preserve the mechanical sanity of drivetrain components) – fully unlocked it has a 1,320Nm peak at 3,750rpm.
The C25 was designed as a ‘Super GT’. It will go into production, but only 25 units will be made. There’s actually something very interesting about how these 25 units will be distributed. Each owner is promised that he’ll be the only C25 owner in his country! Once you buy a C25 in the USA, no one else can order a C25 and register it in that country. This means it will be offered in a maximum of 25 countries.
Not sure what’s preventing some rich guy from ordering one in some weird country somewhere and importing it to his original country though. Anyone wanna bet if there’ll be one in Malaysia?

Ford Focus WRC Edition - 40yrs Anniversary!

The Ford Focus RS is one hot looking hot hatch and Ford of Switzerland has raised the temperature further with this special version called “WRC Edition”. It will be produced in a limited run of 50 units to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Ford’s RS division.

The WRC Edition, which pays tribute to the legendary Escort RS1600 that was launched in 1970, was designed with the help of Swiss fans who participated in a design competition. The winning design’s base is a “Frozen White” paint finish contrasted by black and green stickers and stripes as well as the 19-inch OZ Superturismo GT multispoke alloys in black. As with all special editions, there’s a plaque and this one bears the signatures of Ford WRC drivers Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen.

No changes under the bonnet, so the 305 bhp 2.5-litre turbocharged inline-five sprints to 100 km/h in under 6 seconds and on to a top speed of 263 km/h. It is priced at 55,900 francs or about 37,950 euros. Check out some of the proposals that didn’t make it after the jump.
Personally I like the 3rd car from the top cause it has those amazing black rims and also the hot rod paint scheme with orange linings.. superb.
