Maxximus G-Force Ultima GTR.


The title of the world’s fastest car has always been up for grabs and will always be up for grabs. The Mclaren F1 held it for the longest time before the Bugatti Veyron came by and completely shattered the record and still holds it. Well, karmic forces are seemingly at work again and the Bugatti could just loose it’s record – to a virtually unknown competitor.

Financier David McMahan and his chauffer Marlon Kirby took the Ultima GTR – which already claims the fastest quarter-mile, 0-100-0, Nürburgring (almost) and Top Gear (unofficial) track times – and dropped in an all-aluminum 7.0-liter Chevy small-block V8 with twin turbochargers to bring the power rating up to 1600 horses, calling the resultant monster the Maxximus G-Force.

All those ponies drive through a three-speed sequential gearbox, while six-piston AP Racing calipers gripping 14.2-inch discs handle the stopping power.

Housed in a 1225kg frame, that’s apparently enough to get the G-Force up to 100km/h in 2.1 seconds, to 160 km/h in 4.5 seconds and run the 0-100-0 sprint in 8.8 seconds. Nine minutes of fuel is all it can carry at those rates, but considering that McMahan and Kirby are charging US$3 million a pop, a big petrol bill would be an owner’s last concern. Whatever the case is, we are in doubt that it will be able to reach the 400km mark, if so, the Veyron is safe. For now.

Love the Beast.

Love the Beast 2009 - Eric Bana

What if you were a Hollywood movie star with an obsession for cars and racing? You would probably read every script with even the tiniest link to the subject matter, in the hope that you could tell a great car story of the likes of "Grand Prix", "Le Mans" or "Mad Max".

Then one day you happened to open your garage door and sitting there, right in front of you, was the film you had been searching for. This is what happened to Eric Bana and this time around, the co-star is his very own Ford GT Falcon Coupe- THE BEAST. Eric realized the story was in fact, about him, his first car, a lifetime of ownership and a lifetime of friendship. 

He set about documenting his own 25 year long love story. A simple tale of one man's ongoing relationship with his very first car. After years of precious restoration, Eric and his 3 closest friends, decided to enter the car into one of the most grueling and dangerous motor races that exists: The Targa Tasmania Rally.

This would be a personal Everest for both man and machine, until...on day 4 of the race, tragedy strikes. The man who was hell bent on trying to convey how much he and those around him loved "THE BEAST", had just destroyed it. Eric has now unwillingly cast himself in his own real life drama. We follow him from inside the race car to the surreal world of the red carpet. 

This compelling true story follows Eric's progression as a car lover, and as a person conflicted by what he has done. The personal and social pressures mount up in the face of re building a car that means so much to him. Along the way Eric seeks guidance and wisdom from not only the inner sanctum of his 3 life long friends but also Jay Leno, Jeremy Clarkson, and Dr Phil.

Eric says two things attracted him to the coupe's fat, muscular lines: the Mad Max Interceptor and the iconic '73-'74 Bathurst race cars that made a big impression on the 5-year-old as he watched them tear up Mount Panorama on TV. At 21, Eric got his racing license in hopes of pushing the Falcon into a few corners: "I just always wanted to race my whole life, but like most people, I didn't have the money for it. I could barely afford to put petrol in the Falcon. But I just kept my license paid up in the hope that one day I'd be able to afford to go racing, and then as soon as I could, I did."

That was in 1996, when Eric entered the Targa Tasmania tarmac rally where he and his mates "kind of cobbled the car together" before navigating the challenging road course and finishing an impressive Third in his class. By then, the tarmac-rally bug had truly bitten, and there was no turning back for the then-white Ford. This story probably would be far more advanced had it not been for the escalating success of Eric's acting career; it wasn't until early in the new century that he got to race the Ford again.


It isn't just the Blue Oval machines that get Eric's blood pumping, however. Despite growing up in a Ford family, Eric found a love for German engineering, punting a Porsche 944 and a 3.3L turbo GT2 replica around Victorian racetracks in the Marque Sports series-good for practicing your race craft and also good for sourcing parts and suspension ideas for your big, heavy, engine-forward musclecar. Enter Steve Tupek, a guy who normally spends his time doing serious restoration work on vintage Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Benz metal for wealthy, Australian entrepreneur Lindsay Fox. Eric met Steve through racing Porsches, and the pair hooked up with a view to giving Eric's '73 a simple respray. With the car in Steve's workshop, it was soon apparent that a simple respray was to be the catalyst for something far larger than anyone involved could have ever imagined. Says Eric, "The Falcon was in even worse shape than I thought it was. When Steve e-mailed me photos once the top layer of skin was peeled off, my jaw hit the ground."


According to Steve, there wasn't much left of the original body. "The bonnet, both front guards, the doors, door pillars, sills, parcel tray, wheeltubs, lower quarters, rear-wheel arches, back panel, boot edges, and boot floor were completely rusted out. It really needed a new shell." A new shell wasn't in the cards however, as both Steve and Eric felt that Eric's history with the car would be lost by using an entirely new shell. So, with the goal set, Steve went to work fabricating new body parts, also calling on another of Lindsay Fox's metalwork maestros, Brian Tanti, who worked his magic fabricating entirely new pieces to look factory. In all, Steve put more than 800 hours into the bodywork alone, and the result makes Eric's coupe easily one of the finest examples of the marque. While the Falcon is more a result of its 23 years of continued evolution, it is this latest 18-month, ground-up rebuild that sees it looking and driving the way it does now; and it goes a lot deeper than the 800-hour full-body massage, with the entire build taking around 3,000 hours.


Motorvation comes thanks to a John Sidney Racing-built 400ci stroker Windsor small-block protected by a serious dry-sump oil system (sourced from a Dick Johnson Racing V-8 supercar) to prevent another nasty engine failure under heavy cornering load, as was the fate of an expensive race motor that momentarily resided between the XB's shock towers. Thankfully, the top end of the first motor was salvageable, and the ported Brodix heads, Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold, and Holley HP-series 830-cfm 4150 carb top the new stroker bottom end.


There are a lot of trick details in this luscious red Falcon that you won't see or potentially even notice when you look hard, and it's these details that make Eric's car so special. For instance, running down either side of the car are channels that have been hand-fabricated into the floors and under which run the lines for fuel and the dry-sump setup. These are to make the underside of the car as clean as possible, getting relatively fragile parts up and out of harm's way should Eric take an off-road excursion. It's a similar story inside the car. Every flammable surface has been removed, with the floor and roof all smoothed and painted to a similar standard as the exterior panels. All the wiring was torn out and redone from scratch, both to minimize the amount of cabling and to replace the spaghetti of old and potentially hazardous wires.

Wolkswagen Amarok 2010.



Well looky here – it's the latest in a long line of oddly named trucks from Volkswagen. This time, the Amarok refers to a cryptozoological Inuit giant wolf-creature that eats those who dares to hunt alone. No really. Regardless, the Amarok is VW's first pickup truck since the Caddy, aka the Rabbitamino first released in 1980. Aside from being thirty-years more new, the Amarok looks to be a bit, well, more stout.

Spartan, too – especially the no frills interior. And here's the really good part for you truck dudes – it's a real-deal, honest-to-goodness body-on-frame worker bee. Meaning it can haul 2,300 pounds and tow nearly three tons (5,600 pounds) when equipped with VW's 2.0-liter common-rail turbo diesel four-cylinder that's good for 163 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

A smaller diesel motor with 122 hp and 250 torques will be an option, as well as a direct-injected gasoline engine. True, it's not a Ford F-450 Super Duty. But then again, what is? And really, if hauling a couple of jet skis or a track car are your thing (as opposed to say a yacht), the Amarok could be your truck. If you live in Europe, South America, Asia, Africa or Australia.

For the powertrain, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has chosen two reliable, fuel-efficient and clean high-tech turbo-diesels for the pick-up's market launch. The 120 kW / 163 PS strong 2.0 TDI with common rail injection has two-stage bi-turbo turbocharging, which generates a torque of 400 Newton-meters at a low 1,500 rpm. Another four-cylinder TDI with 90 kW / 122 PS will follow as a second engine variant in mid-2010. It has a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry and develops a maximum torque of 340 Newton-meters from 2,000 rpm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

In addition to their agile responsiveness, the two engines dazzle with their extremely low – and for the entire market segment pioneering – fuel consumption values. Take the Amarok with switchable all-wheel drive as an example. Even in this 4x4 version, the 122-PS TDI consumes just 7.6 litres per 100 kilometres (equivalent to 199 g/km CO2). In the case of the 163-PS TDI, fuel consumption is also very economical at 7.8 litres (206 g/km CO2). This is the first time an all-wheel drive vehicle has been offered in this class whose CO2 emissions are less than 200 grams. Thanks to its 80-litre tank, the pick-up is also capable of ranges of over 1,000 kilometres! All Amarok pick-ups are equipped with an upshift indicator as well to assist drivers in attaining an economical mode of driving.


Exterior: The Amarok's cargo area delivers the largest dimensions of its class. On a truck bed height of just 525 millimetres, the cargo area measures 2.52 square meters (1,555 millimetre length, 1,620 millimetre width). But that is not all: Also "Best in class" is the 1,222 millimetre width between wheel wells. For the first time on a mid-size pick-up, it is possible to load Euro pallets sideways, saving on space. Thanks to its large dimensions and a payload capacity of up to 1.15 tonnes, sports equipment like quads and bulky machinery can also be transported. Four tie-down eyes in the corners of the truck bed protect cargo during the drive. In addition, the (optional) "hitch" can handle up to 2.8 tonnes trailer load.


Four airbags, ESP, ASR, ABS and assistance systems:

Naturally, the Amarok has height-adjustable head restraints and seatbelts at all five of its seating positions. The belts on the front seats are equipped with belt tensioners and are coupled to a visual and acoustic belt warning system. Side curtain airbags for head protection are also available for the driver and front passenger. ABS and ASR are standard features on the Amarok as is the electronic differential lock (EDL). Another standard feature activated by pushbutton is Off-Road ABS, which significantly shortens braking distances on off-road trails and gravel roads. If the optional ESP system is installed, when Offroad-ABS is enabled at vehicle speeds under 30 km/h this also activates Hill Descent Assist. It keeps driving speed constant by selective braking interventions, enabling safe and controlled hill descents. For the first time in this vehicle class, when driving under 30 km/h the driver can individually set the driving speed for the given descent conditions by braking and accelerating.

Furthermore, all vehicles are equipped with ESP plus Hill Hold Assist, which holds the vehicle in place while driving uphill until the driver presses the accelerator pedal enough to prevent rolling back.

Key markets for the Amarok are South America, South Africa and Australia, the Amarok is also expected to be a trendsetter in the contemporary pick-up class in Europe. Its market launch in South America is scheduled for early 2010, and Europe will follow in the second half of 2010.

Honda P-Nut Revealed!


Honda 'Personal-Neo Urban Transport' Concept Demonstrates Potential for Ultra-compact City-focused Vehicle. The Honda Personal-Neo Urban Transport (P-NUT) design study model demonstrates a futuristic concept for an ultra-compact and sophisticated city coupe, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Conceived around a small 'footprint' for maximum convenience in tight urban settings, the packaging concept integrates a center driving position configuration and a rear powertrain layout. The exterior styling leverages crisp angles with dynamic flowing lines that originate from the front of the vehicle and span outward toward the rear. The end result is a sleek and aggressive exterior that also allows for a spacious and open interior with excellent visibility.

The Personal-Neo Urban Transport concept explores the packaging and design potential for a vehicle conceived exclusively around the city lifestyle.'

The exterior styling is intended to capture a future direction for premium sophistication while balancing the need for maximum interior space and an aerodynamic appearance. The interior layout, in conjunction with the rear powertrain design, contributes prominently to the exterior's overall shape.
The layout of the interior space, with its center driving position flanked by two rear seats, provides generous legroom for all occupants, roughly the equivalent of a mid-sized sedan in a vehicle that has an exterior footprint similar to a micro car. Interior functionality is increased by rear seating areas that fold up and out of the way to increase storage capacity. The windshield serves as a heads-up display for the navigation system and the back-up camera.

The modular rear engine bay, depicted on the exterior by blue composite material, is designed to accommodate a wide variety of potential propulsion technologies including a conventional small displacement internal combustion engine, a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain, or a battery-electric powertrain.

'The objective of the exterior and interior designers was to explore the potential for a new type of small-segment-category vehicle that overcomes many of the objections for existing micro-car designs,' said Marek. 'While the Honda P-NUT concept introduces function-oriented concepts, it also shows that small cars don't have to compromise on style or amenities.'

The Advanced Design Studio of Honda R&D Americas, Inc. in Los Angeles developed the P-NUT design study model. Honda R&D Americas began its operations in California in 1975 with local market research activities and has steadily grown its capabilities over the past 33 years to include all aspects of new vehicle research, design and development. Recent Honda-brand efforts include trend-setting products such as the Pilot, Ridgeline, Element, Civic Coupe and Civic Si Coupe.


This little concept has taken automotive mobility to a different level. A ultra-compact and a aggressive looking sedan mix together we get the perfect blend of what is the future in making. Although i'm not too sure about the futuristic designs(are all cars in the future going to look like that?) that seems very aerodynamically unchallenged. Plus doesn't it look like the front part of a bullet train. hmm anyways we shall see how this whole concept pans out in the near future.

As you can see the SR20det SSS has been completely done up with its engine producing in upwards of 250hp. This pictures and details were sent to me by mail and i was told to put it up by an anoynomous person. I decided to post it here as i see this car has potential and after all it looks pretty decent. Especially the part where he is using a SSS intercooler and a semi LSD attesa 2.0 gearbox which i think is quite rare. Anyways brilliant car and i would like to thank the owner for his generous contributions.
